A 2010 survey by the Australian Alpine Club revealed that a one-day lift pass then cost around $100, but now, it can easily double that amount.

A 2024 report from Australian National University predicts a reduction of 44 to 55 days in ski seasons by 2050 if current trends continue. However, if carbon emissions are curbed, the ski season could be 28 days shorter by 2050 but could recover by 2080.

Thredbo, in particular, is taking steps to ensure sustainability, diversifying its offerings with an alpine coaster, mountain biking, and hiking.
