Imagine this: the New England Patriots, with a perfect road record of 8-0, are poised to make history once again. But here's the catch - they need to beat the New York Jets in Week 17 to achieve this remarkable feat.
The Patriots have only accomplished this twice before, and both times were during the legendary Bill Belichick and Tom Brady era. It's an exclusive club, and the Patriots are knocking on the door again.
What's even more intriguing is that both seasons where they achieved this perfect road record, they made it to the Super Bowl. Coincidence? Maybe not.
During the historic 2007 campaign, the Patriots went 16-0 in the regular season, only to fall short in Super Bowl XLII against the New York Giants. And in 2016, they repeated the 8-0 road record and went on to win Super Bowl LI against the Atlanta Falcons.
But here's where it gets controversial... In 2025, the Patriots, despite having MVP candidate Drake Maye and Coach of the Year contender Mike Vrabel, have lost three games. And here's the twist - all three losses were at home!
It's almost as if the Patriots are saving their best for the road.
Looking back at the season, it's hard to believe that the 12-3 Patriots started with a loss at home to the Las Vegas Raiders. They then lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 3, but bounced back with a 10-game winning streak, only to stumble again at home against the Buffalo Bills in Week 15.
And this is the part most people miss - the Patriots have an opportunity to close out the regular season on a high note, at home against the Miami Dolphins on January 4th.
So, will the Patriots make history and achieve their third perfect road record? Or will they stumble at the final hurdle?
What do you think? Is this a sign of a team destined for greatness, or just a fluke? Let's discuss in the comments and see if we can predict the Patriots' fate!
