West Virginia makes another in-state addition to the 2026 recruiting class, landing Martinsburg (W.Va.) Spring Mills tight end Xavier Anderson as a Mountaineer. Standing 6-foot-6 and weighing 185 pounds, Anderson had previously pledged to Cincinnati since June 7, but WVU never relented in pursuing the talented local standout. He made several campus visits, and connections to the program ran deep, with his brother, freshman quarterback Max Anderson, on the roster.
A Rivals-three-star prospect, Anderson was recruited by tight ends coach Michael Nysewander along with senior offensive assistant Travis Trickett, and the two played pivotal roles in his recruitment.
WV offered Anderson in April, a moment that carried extra significance given his local ties and his evident interest in the Mountaineers.
“Receiving the WVU offer felt incredible,” Anderson said at the time.
In addition to West Virginia, Anderson held scholarship offers from Cincinnati, Virginia Tech, Liberty, Appalachian State, and others. He also showcases his talents on the basketball court in high school.
Anderson becomes the third tight end to commit in the 2026 class, joining Cincinnati (Ohio) Archbishop Moeller’s Sam Hamilton and Chanhassen, Minnesota’s Kade Bush.
WVSports.com plans to bring more with Anderson in the near future.
